Beethoven Lives Upstairs is a comprehensive study in music with connections across the curriculum.
The CD tells the fictional story of young Christoph, who exchanges letters with his uncle about the chaotic arrival of Mr. Beethoven into his house. In the end, he is won over by the music. It includes true incidents from the great composer’s life with over 24 excerpts from Beethoven’s music.
The Teacher’s Notes book includes questions and activities for use before presenting the recording; scenebyscene suggestions for 6 scenes (the story, music used in the scene, background facts, discussion & activity suggestions, suggestions for exploring the music); and questions and activities for use after the recording (charts: themes & skills, day lesson plan, student’s worksheet).
It also includes Minuet in G arranged for piano; Nel Cor Piu arranged for 2 recorders; Ode to Joy arranged for 2 recorders; and Shepherd’s Theme arranged for piano. Suggested grade levels are given for activities.
